To celebrate the 20th edition, the festival will run for 3 days and 2 nights.
2010 will also be the 5th global year of the olive-tree, the opportunity to further enhance this tree that is a symbol of peace and prosperity and that gave the town of Ollioules the origin of its name.
Celebration of olive growing: Advice on size, maintenance, irrigation and a doctors conference on the benefits of olive oil, attendance of olive-growing technicians, sessions for the tasting and recognition of olive oils, food demonstrations, sales exhibition for olive-growing equipment …
Quality: For many years the Amis de l'Olivier (Friends of the Olive Tree) have organized tasting sessions in order to allow visitors to discover all the tasting and sensory properties of olive oils. This year a specific area will be allocated for French Olive oil producers on the place Trotobas in order to better appreciate all the qualities of the French olive-growing soil in partnership with the Association Française Interprofessionnelle de l'Olive (AFIDOL) (French Association of the Olive) and the Groupement des Oléiculteurs varois (Group of Olive Growers of the Var).
Innovations: Mr Frederic d' Agay, historian will give a conference at the Jean Moulin Hall on “Olive oil from Ollioules at the court of Versailles”.
Doctor Olive-Sturer will also offer talks on the benefits of olive oil.
Events:
To celebrate the 20th birthday all the folk music groups which have succeeded one another since the birth of the festival will attend for 3 days such as the Raïoulet of Six Fours, Lei Flour d' Ollioules, La Respelido Valetenco, the group Occi Cant, Escapado, La Farigouleto de la Garde… as well as the Lyre Provençale d'Ollioules for its traditional concert directed by Daniel Tasca. 100 chorus-singers will sing the cantata of the olive-tree, created at the time of this festival. There will be of course a new era in the creation of knights, defenders of the olive-tree with the Commanderie du Rameau d'Argent (Commandership of the Olive Branch) on Saturday 2nd October at 11:30am, place Victor Clément.
In the communal halls, exhibitions will be numerous as usual:
Miniatures made out of wood of olive-trees, machine exhibitions, exhibitions of paintings, exhibition of provençal costumes with the collection of Mrs. Barbaroux, reception in the workshops of the art trades, bee-keeper, discovery of nature workshops with l'Amicale Ornithologique la Provençale, which will also propose a greenhouse for birds in rue Loutin, exhibition on the legacy of the commune and the oil mills of Ollioules with the Groups researching the Ollioules legacy and guided tour of the Oil Mill from the Canton d'Ollioules but also carriage rides will greet adults and children.
Visitors will also be able to discover 2 splendid oil mills located in the town centre, the Zann and Lançon mills whose stone structures reflect their past glory.
The Amis de l’Olivier reside in the Pierre Puget area for advice on size, maintenance, irrigation, harvesting but also the recognition of oil through tastings.

At the ex Bon Coin, cooperage workshop and rue Berthelot interactive show with the theatre company la Compagnie Ollioulaise Ratafia théâtre, nature workshops with the amicale ornithologique la Provençale, association with garden flowers…
Special guests: Florence Klein, weather forecaster for France 3 and born in Ollioules, appointed godmother for the demonstration will attend at the side of Stephan Lelièvre, restaurateur.
Food demonstrations, amphitheatre place Jean Jaurès.
Aïoli contest for the representatives on Saturday 2 /10 at 5:30pm and aïoli contests open to all on Sunday 3/10 at 5:30pm.
For the 2nd year children up to 16 years old will also have their own aïoli contest on Saturday 2 /10 at 4:30pm, place Marius Trotobas.
Plantation of the 21st olive-tree Sunday 3 /10 at 11am. This ceremony will be followed by a celebrated anchovy paste offered by the city.
